ABOUT CITYTUTOR DC
COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on the education, health, and well-being of our most vulnerable students. Students deemed at risk of school failure—almost half of all DC students—have lost the equivalent of five months of instructional time in math and four months of instructional time in reading since the pandemic began. Unaddressed, the long-term impact on a generation of students is devastating.
CityBridge Education is coordinating a coalition of city, civic, school, and community leaders to launch CityTutor DC—an initiative to address lost instructional time in our nation’s capital by dramatically expanding access to high-impact tutoring.
Over the next 18 months, CityTutor DC will:
- Increase the capacity of existing tutoring organizations and recruit additional tutoring organizations to work in the city.
- Help school leaders and school-based staff integrate high-impact tutoring into the school day through our Design Sprints.
- Fund the creation of community-driven learning hub pilots that engage students with online learning and provide other support.
- Connect students and families with free tutoring providers in their neighborhood.
