COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on the education, health, and well-being of our most vulnerable students. Students deemed at risk of school failure—almost half of all DC students—have lost the equivalent of five months of instructional time in math and four months of instructional time in reading since the pandemic began. Unaddressed, the long-term impact on a generation of students is devastating.

CityBridge Education is coordinating a coalition of city, civic, school, and community leaders to launch CityTutor DC—an initiative to dramatically expand access to high-impact tutoring in our nation’s capital. Through CityTutor DC, we are connecting schools, providers, families, and other partners to support tutoring efforts for 10,000+ DC public school students.

Visit the CityTutor DC website for information on this coalition’s people, approach, and resources.

At the midpoint of the initiative’s first year, we wanted to share our lessons learned thus far in implementing high-impact tutoring at scale in a white paper. Read the white paper below for useful insights into implementing such a wide-reaching strategy.
