After being fortunate enough to attend a prestigious private school in New York City, Mali Locke only began to understand the scarcity of high-quality schools in low-income communities when she began volunteering in public schools. She is now a fierce advocate for educational equity and excellence and has worked in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector, specializing in education, since 2001.
Before coming to CityBridge, Mali was the director of the Maverick Capital Foundation, the philanthropic arm of hedge fund Maverick Capital. At Maverick, she managed grant making, due diligence, and budgets for the New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco offices and ran volunteer programs and assisted C-level executives with their personal giving and board placement. Previously, she served as a senior program officer in the education portfolio at the Robin Hood Foundation.
Mali holds a B.A. in French Literature from Yale University and an M.S. in Organizational Development from the New School University.
